TWO INJURED - POTSDAM - Canton-based state police said two people were injured in a two-vehicle crash at 1:55 p.m. Tuesday on Route 11, near County Route 35, in the town of Canton. The vehicles were operated by M.L. Matthews, 83, of Massena and Cathy Nina Stewart, 53, of Rensselaer Falls.

FELONY DWI - CANTON - Canton-based state police charged Justin C. Shannon-Wangler, 20, of Ogdensburg with a felony count of driving while intoxicated and ticketed him for failure to keep right and speed in zone following a traffic stop at 1:13 a.m. Wednesday on Main Street in the village of Canton. Troopers said Shannon-Wangler has two prior drinking and driving convictions within the past 10 years.

UNLAWFUL POSSESSION - MASSENA - Massena-based state police charged January M. Redstar, 18, of Hogansburg with unlawful possession of marijuana following a complaint at 1:48 p.m. Tuesday at the U.S. port of entry in Rooseveltown. U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers reportedly found Redstar in possession of a small amount of marijuana during a secondary inspection at the port of entry.

CRUELTY TO ANIMALS - FORT COVINGTON - Malone-based state police reported Wednesday they had charged Michael W. Lackey, 23, of Brushton and Barbara J. Howard, 22, of Brushton with cruelty to animals last Thursday following an investigation into a dog complaint filed with troopers on June 10 from the town of Fort Covington. The arrest was made at 113 Tupper Road in the town of Fort Covington.

PROPERTY DAMAGE ACCIDENT - BRASHER FALLS - State police investigated several property damage accidents around the region on Tuesday. Among those:

• Michael J. Swyers, 29, of Potsdam at 12:51 p.m. Tuesday on state Route 420 at Dullea Road in the town of Brasher.
