Cutler, Rogers pace first Norwood Beach Duathlon


NORWOOD — Nearly 40 road warriors braved threatening skies to compete in the first race of the 2014 Norwood Beatch Duathlon series on Tuesday.

Peter Cutler emerged as the individual leader in posting a time of 42:52 while Steph Rogers led the women’s division with a time of 44:58. The duo of Jon Eng and cyclist Ethan Kelly logged the overall quickest time of the night after combining to complete the trek in 39:16.

Rounding out the top five in the men’s division were Chad Colbert in 43:13, Ben Swimm in 44:29, Ben Yandeau in 44:51 and Tony Betrus in 46:32. The next four finishers in the women’s field were Amy Hollister (52:16), Emma Duffany (52:20), Lauren Olson (52:21) and Jeni Backus (55:16).

The tandem of Kent Fetter and Skylar Fetter teamed up to place second in 46:10 followed by Colleen Cotey and Pete LePage in 50:38.

The second race of the three-race series is slated for Tuesday, July 22, and the finale is Tuesday, August 19. Each race consists of two 1.5-mile runs sandwiched around an eighth-mile bike ride.
