POTSDAM - Potsdam Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Marylee E. Ballou said that the recently completed 2014 Potsdam Summer Festival was a large success due to continued community support.
“The whole three days were wonderful. I’ve only heard good things, and it was a nice time,” Ms. Ballou said.
Potsdam saw sunny skies on Thursday, Friday and Saturday but ran into rainy weather on Sunday.
The final day of SummerFest featured the first of what is planned to be annual Summer Baking Fest and Auction at the Potsdam Food Co-op.
The event benefited GardenShare and Carriage House.
Ms. Ballou said that Friday night’s outdoor movie, “Frozen,” at the Ives Park Gazebo was among the highlights of the weekend.
“The outdoor movie had an awesome turnout of about 400 that we could count,” Ms. Ballou said. “All three nights in downtown were well attended, as well as Outer Market Mania. ... I also heard great things about the Potsdam Community Band performance on Saturday morning.”
This was the 47th annual Summer Festival in Potsdam and for the first time their Saturday evening parade featured a specified theme, “Fun in the Sun.”Ms. Ballou said that the attendees are what make Potsdam SummerFest the success that it is.
“We thank everyone for attending and everyone in Potsdam for turning out. We couldn’t do it without the support of the community,” she said.
