State Sen. Patricia A. Ritchie, R-Heuvelton, has secured $55,000 in funding to support high school marching bands throughout Jefferson, St. Lawrence and Oswego counties.
“As a former marching band member myself, I know that activities like this help students build invaluable life skills and also allow them to further develop their musical talents,” she said in a statement.
In Jefferson County, General Brown Central School District will receive $5,000. In St. Lawrence County, Hammond, Heuvelton, Edwards-Knox, Lisbon, Hermon-DeKalb, Madrid-Waddington, Morristown, Canton, Massena, Ogdensburg and Gouverneur will receive $4,000 each. Pulaski High School received $5,000 to help its band play in the National Fourth of July Parade in Washington, D.C.
