Another summer marching band season is underway and the Ogdensburg Free Academy Marching Blue Devils are off to an exciting start capturing first place at the Morristown Fourth of July parade. This year’s music is a celebration of the music of Queen, the iconic group of the 70’s and 80’s. Songs featured in their show include Don’t Stop Us Now, Bohemian Rhapsody, and Crazy Little Thing Called Love.

To help raise funds, the Band is once again selling its official summer show t-shirt to the public. In a show of support for the band, band members hope to see a sea of the red Queen T-shirts filling the stands at the Battle of the Bands and lining the streets of the Seaway Festival parade. Shirts are $12.00 for small-xlarge and $15.00 for 2x,3x.

Shirts can be purchased this week at Wal-Mart during the following times: Tuesday 2-8, Wednesday 2-8, and Thursday 6-8. Shirts will also be available outside at Madill School on Friday 6-8 pm. In addition, shirts will again be available for purchase at the Battle of the Bands on Sunday.

Also, to help raise funds, the OFA Band Support Group will be conducting a bottle drive throughout the summer. Save your bottles and cans and a member will pick them up for you! Just email the official band support email: OFABand@yahoo.com and arrangements for pick up will be made.

The OFA Band will be marching this coming Saturday in the Sackett’s Harbor parade at 10 am and the Hammond parade at 7 pm. Other local high school bands will also be in action with Heuvelton marching in the Sackett’s parade and Heuvelton, Lisbon, and Morristown all marching and competing along with OFA in the Hammond parade. In addition, all the bands will be competing in the popular Battle of the Bands competition on Sunday as part of the Seaway Festival. Come out and support the local high school bands.
