PLATTSBURGH - The Norfolk Post 925 Rovers U18 baseball team fell on the short side of a Thursday evening pitcher’s duel in dropping a 2-1 decision on the road to the Clinton County Mariners.
Rory Corcoran went the distance in taking the loss, fanning seven and walking just one while allowing three hits, all in the fourth inning where the Mariners pushed across both their runs. Brandon Buksa fired a one-hitter for the win, striking out 11 and walking two.
Hadyn St. Hilaire scored the lone Norfolk run after leading off the game by drawing a walk then stealing secondbase. He then came home when a failed pick-off attempt at second resulted in a pair of errors. Isaac Ward doubled to account for the lone Rovers’ hit.
Robby Knowled tied the game with a solo homerun in the fourth. Adam Goldfarb touched home with the game-winning run in front of an RBI-single by Connor Casey.
The Rovers are slated to return to action on Monday with a game on the road against the Malone Post 219 Pilots starting at 5:30 p.m.
