This year’s Waddington Homecoming promises fun, variety

WADDINGTON - From jewelry made from spoons to straight-from the-smoker pulled pork, variety will be the theme at this year’s annual Waddington Homecoming.

Hundreds are expected to visit Waddington for the annual festival set Friday through Sunday.

A record 120 vendors, selling items from doll clothes to skin care products, are signed up to participate in the annual craft and artisan fair held throughout the weekend.

“This is the first year I have ever had to turn vendors away,” coordinator Shelly L. Shirley said.

Some popular events will be returning this year.

“We’re able to bring back the no-octane go-cart races,” Ms. Shirley said. “It’s a really popular event for the kids, and adults have fun cheering them on. We will have two age groups, 5 to 8 and 9 to 12, racing one another down Pine Street.”

One of the new events this year is the Amazing E-Race which will be held at Town Hall Square at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

“People will split into two-man teams or there will be one-on-one races,” Ms. Shirley said. “They will have to race against one another to look up definitions of words as well as play other word games.”
