Watertown woman accused of throwing bourbon bottle

WATERTOWN — Latia N. Towles, 28, of 36 N. Rutland St., lower apt., was charged by city police with second-degree assault, fourth-degree possession of a weapon, second-degree reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of a child at 8:42 p.m. Tuesday at home.

She is accused of throwing a pint-sized bottle of bourbon at Joshua M. Clemons, 383 Flower Ave. E., lower apt. According to police, the bottle struck Mr. Clemons on the right arm as he protected his face from being hit, causing swelling.

Ms. Towles is also accused of attempting to punch Mr. Clemons, nearly striking a 14-year-old boy. Police said that the partially-filled bourbon bottle thrown by Ms. Towles bounced off Mr. Clemons and struck the youth in the chest, causing his clothing to become soaked with liquor.

Police said Ms. Towles also got completely naked in front of the youth, causing him to become frightened.

Ms. Towles was taken to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building and was held pending arraignment in City Court.
