HAMMOND - If you enjoy kayaking or canoeing, and exploring new places, Hammond wants to invite you to “paddle for a purpose” and learn about what Chippewa Bay has to offer on Aug. 16.
The Hammond Economic Development Committee wants to introduce paddlers to the beauties of Chippewa Bay’s islands and scenic vistas.
Hammond’s tourism development organization is offering an approximately two-hour paddling event for canoeists, kayakers and standup paddle board users of all ages and skill levels.
The “poker run”-style event will offer north country paddlers an opportunity to “explore our shores” and discover the “paddlers paradise” Hammond offers, according to organizer Erica Demick. This scenic riverside course offers an up-close view of Chippewa Bay’s islands, with amazing views of Singer Castle.
The poker run offers a short and enjoyable voyage, making it perfect for paddlers of all ages and skill levels. The event will be held - rain or shine - starting at the Chippewa Bay Town Docks with poker run points at various islands in Chippewa Bay. Kayaks, canoes and standup paddle boards are welcome.
Registration begins at 8 a.m. The event begins at 9 a.m. at the Chippewa bay Town Docks. The cost is $30 adults, $20 for kids.
