Top seeds reach NNY Box Lacrosse HS final


BRASHER FALLS - The top two seeds advanced to the title game of the Northern New York Box Lacrosse High School Division playoffs after producing high-scoring semi-final round wins at the Tri-Town Arena on Monday.

Number-one seed B&W Quick Stop advanced via a 20-11 win over fourth-seeded Goodrich Refrigeration while second-seeded Massena Savings and Loan outscored third-seeded Enbridge-St. Lawrence Gas 16-13. The championship game is slated for Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. following the consolation game which faces off at 6:30 p.m.

In the Elementary Division game played on Monday, Stacey Howlett, DDS, outlasted Dow Electric 16-15 while the Reds downed the Whites 14-8 in the final Adult Division matchup of the summer.

Nightly player of the game awards in the Elementary and High School Division contests are sponsored by Powerade.


B&W Quick Stop 20, Goodrich 11: Lucas Beesan broke through for eight goals to earn player of the game status in the winning effort. Drew Rose (3 assists) and Jake Sutton (1 assist) contributed three goals apiece.

Carter Rose notched three goals and an assist as player of the game in the losing cause. Skyler Burns (1 goal) and Garrett St. Hilaire finished with three assists each.

Massena S&L 16, Enbridge-SLG 13: Player of the game Zach Ward struck for three goals to anchor the winning attack. Owen Kowalchuk (2 assists) and Kaleb Rathbun (1 assist) chipped in two goals each.

For Enbridge-SLG, Brody Simonds generated four goals as player of the gamne. Dan Wing produced a hattrick while Isaiah Lyon logged two goals and an assist.

Two netminders shared crease duties over the course of the two games and both turned in strong all-around efforts as Cash Feeley made 25 and handed out three assist and Trent Dow stopped 22 shots while amassing a goal and three helpers.


Stacey Howlett, DDS 16, Dow Electric 15: Player of the game Kayden McGaheren netted a goal as Stacey Howlett, DDS, held off a late charge for the win. Ryan Charlebois broke through for seven goals while Tommy Storrin (1 assist) and Riley Basford tallied two goals each.

Zachg Strauser struck for a solo goal as player of the game for Dow Electric. Jimmy Sullivan fashioned three goals and an assist while Tyler Berkman tallied two goals and three helpers.


Reds 14, Whites 8: Martin Fregoe (1 assist) and Hunter Storrin anchored the winning attack with six goals each while Ryan McCuin stood tall turning aside 14 of the shots he faced backstopping the win.

Kyle Shampine (2 assists) and Marshall Burninghausen (1 assist) paced the Whites offensively with two goals apiece. Brian LaBier made 13 saves.

Wednesday’s Games: Elementary Division - Stacey Howlett, DDS, vs. Dow Electric 5:30 p.m.; High School Divison - Consolation Game (Enbridge-SLG vs. Goodrich Refrigeration) 6:30 p.m., Championship Game (Massena S&L vs. B&W Quick Stop) 7:30 p.m.
