Free diabetes lecture at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center

Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center will sponsor a free diabetes lecture entitled Know Your Numbers on August 21, at 4 p.m. in the Medical Center’s Hess Auditorium. The speaker is Mary Lou Barrette, RD, CDN, CDE. Health issues are a concern for persons with diabetes. Diabetes can affect the heart and blood vessels, eyes, kidneys and nerves. It can also increase your risk for infections and slow healing. In a person with diabetes, increased attention must be paid to teeth, gums, skin and feet. Studies have shown that with good blood glucose control, a number of these problems can be prevented or delayed. Program attendees will learn what they can do to lower their risk of complications in the future. All are invited to attend the free program.
