CANTON - An inmate at the St. Lawrence County jail, Canton, was charged with having cocaine in jail, St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputies reported Saturday.
They said that on Monday Caleb L. Rayburn, 27, was found in possession of a chunky white substance that field tested positive for cocaine following an investigation into a report of suspected contraband.
Rayburn was charged with a felony count of first-degree possession of a dangerous contraband while in prison. He was arraigned by Canton Town Justice Christopher Curley and returned to the St. Lawrence County jail on $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond.
Police said the investigation is continuing and more charges may be filed.
