OFA, Lisbon To Play For Cring Title

Host OFA and Lisbon advanced into the finals of the Gerard Cring Memorial Tournament but scoring solid first round wins on Friday night.

OFA blanked Morristown 3-0 and Lisbon broke away from Norwood-Norfolk 5-1.

Lisbon 5 - N-N 1: Adam Kelley figured in three goals as the Golden Knights took a 3-0 lead in the first 19 minutes of the game.

Kelley set up Koby Jordan for the first goal and then scored off a pass from Jake Kiah and a cross from Logan Mathews in a matter of 33 seconds.

Coby Munson scored in a scramble for the Flyers’ lone goal and Joey Pellerin scored from score range off a cross from Connor Hammond to give the Knights a 4-1 halftime lead.

Pellerin scored unassisted in a scramble five minutes into the second half to complete the scoring and Nick Spooner finished with one save in the Lisbon net.

Nolan Pernice finished with 10 saves for N-N.

OFA 3 - Morristown 0: Peyton Lalone (1 goal, 1 assist) and Nate Peo (2 goals - 1 assist) led the Devils into the championship game.

Lalone scored from Peo in the 19th minute and Peo headed home a long cross from Hayden Woods to give the Devils a 2-0 halftime lead.

Peo scored the lone goal of the second half taking a pass from Lalone and scoring g off a dribble drive and low shot well out of the reach of MCS goaltender Luke King (11 saves).

Jake Sias handled three shots posting a shutout.

JV Tourney: OFA and Potsdam will play for the junior varsity title at 4 p.m. OFA downed Canton 9-0 and Potsdam trimmed Madrid-Waddington 3-1.

Connor Badlam netted four goals with one assist for the Devils and Coach TJ Hannan credited the ball control of defenders Brody Sheppard (1 goal) and Jake Adner (1 goal).

Issac Eggleson tallied two goals with one assist and Dom Molinari and Max Ahrens each scored twice.

Ryan Spaman added a solo goal and Justyn McCormick recorded a seven-save shutout.

BOYS SOCCER

Chazy Tournament

Plattsburgh 5, Canton 0: Jacob Bushey generated three goals and Alex Follmer recorded two goals for Plattsburgh which led 4-0 at the half. Brady Channell recorded four assists and JD Side made one save in the shutout.

Duane Ames handled four shots for Canton. GIRLS SOCCER Indian River 2, Massena 1: Kelsie Nabywanies generated a pair of goals for Indian River both in the second half. Nabywanies scored from Kammilia Barnes at the 43rd minute and unassisted six minutes later.

Massena cut the deficit to 2-1 when Mia Jermano scored from Abby LeClair in the 53rd.

Rebecca Monica stopped six shots for Indian River (1-0). McKenna Merry made eight saves for Massena (0-1).

LOWVILLE TOURNAMENT

Canton 7, Hermon-DeKalb 0: the Lady Bears opened to a 4-0 halftime lead advancing to today’s final against Lowville. Katie Clemmer made two saves in the shutout while Natalie Giglio scored two goals and drew an assist and Mimi Husinec netted two goals.

Sam Curtis, Ireland Martin, Maggie Smith each logged a goal while Liza and Emma Collins each drew an assist.

Chelsey MacKay made 16 saves in net for H-D.
