Erupting for five second-half goals the OFA junior varsity soccer team erased a 1-0 halftime deficit and defeated Potsdam 5-2 in the championship game of Gerard Cring Memorial Tournament on Saturday.
The Devils followed up a 9-0 win over Canton on Friday and their high-octane offense was led by Tournament MVP Connor Badlam who delivered six goals and one assist in two games.
Badlam scored the first two goals of the second half and Max Ahrens assisted on the second goal and scored the third unassisted.
The second of two Jacob Kelleher goals cut the OFA margin to to 3-2 but the Devils pulled away as Easton Garvey converted from Isaac Eggleson and Coby Ryan scored from Austin McRoberts.
Justyn McCormick stopped six shots in the OFA goal.
“We came out and played with a lot more energy in the second half. We pressured them and then we started creating off that pressure,” said OFA Coach T.J. Hannan.
Connor Badlam netted four goals with one assist for the Devils in Friday’s win and Coach TJ Hannan credited the ball control of defenders Brody Sheppard (1 goal) and Jake Adner (1 goal).
Issac Eggleson tallied two goals with one assist and Dom Molinari and Max Ahrens each scored twice.
Ryan Spaman added a solo goal and Justyn McCormick recorded a seven-save shutout.
